It features five well‑waymarked walking trails, ranging from easy, flat paths along the Cardinham Water to steeper routes that lead to stunning valley viewpoints and historic remnants.
This forest is fully dog-friendly, making it ideal for you and your four‑legged friend to explore. There’s a self‑service dog wash and drinking water in the car park, and the popular “Forest Walkies with Wallace & Gromit” activity trail offers fun games for dog-owners and children.

The Camel Trail is an 18-mile, mostly flat, traffic-free route that runs from Padstow to Wadebridge, Bodmin, and Wenfordbridge. It follows a former railway line through beautiful countryside and woodland, with plenty of places to stop, rest, or grab a snack along the way.
It’s an ideal choice for casual dog walks, gentle bike rides or extended outings. We highly recommend exploring the Camel Trail, located just 35 miles from The Vale and perfect for a day out.
