Picture crisp coastal walks, twinkling harbour lights and cosy evenings in a lodge or cottage of your own. A Christmas or New Year break at The Vale, near Looe, is a chance to slow down, gather the people you love (dogs included) and celebrate the festive season somewhere special.

Our nine lodges and cottages sit in peaceful countryside near Lansallos, about 5 miles from Looe and 4 miles from Polperro and Fowey. After a day of festive fun, come home to an outdoor copper bath or a private hot tub under the winter stars.

Christmas breaks in Cornwall at The Vale

Christmas at The Vale is relaxed and unhurried. Every lodge and cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, so you can cook your Christmas dinner just the way you like it, then curl up with a film on the smart TV. Lodges have energy-efficient infrared heating, and every stay comes with private outdoor space, a Ninja BBQ and Wi-Fi.

Spend the days walking the coast path, exploring Looe and Polperro, or visiting the Eden Project's Christmas lights, about 30 minutes' drive away. Our shop has the essentials, so you can keep things simple.

Christmas cottages in Cornwall with hot tubs

Our three cottages each have a private hot tub. Hannafore Cottage sleeps four, Lanreath Cottage sleeps six, and Talland Cottage sleeps up to eight in four bedrooms, making it ideal for a family Christmas.

Lodges with outdoor copper baths

Our five Cardinham lodges sleep up to six, and Lerryn Lodge sleeps four. Each has a private deck with an outdoor copper bath and shower, perfect for a festive soak on a frosty evening.

Festive things to do near The Vale

Christmas at the Eden Project: festive lights and events in the biomes, around 30 minutes' drive.
Polperro Christmas lights: the harbour village usually switches on its lights in early December.
New Year's Eve in Looe: fancy dress and two firework displays over the harbour. Brave hearts can also join a festive Christmas Day swim, a tradition in many Cornish coastal towns.

New Year breaks in Cornwall

See in the New Year by the sea. Looe is famous for its New Year's Eve celebrations, when the town fills with people in fancy dress and two firework displays light up the harbour. Expect a brilliant night out, with The Vale a short taxi ride away.

Prefer a quieter start to the year? Stay in with a fire pit evening at Campfire Corner, a soak under the stars and a bracing New Year's Day walk along the coast path.

Bring the dog for Christmas

All nine lodges and cottages welcome up to three dogs, so nobody gets left at home over Christmas. There's a doggy paddock here, and quiet winter beaches and woodland trails close by.
